How does it work?
A duotone maps the brightness of your photo onto a gradient between two colors: dark areas take the ink color, bright areas take the paper color, and everything in between blends smoothly. It's the same idea behind classic screen-printed posters and the famous music-app campaign covers.
Any tips for a better result?
High-contrast photos with a clear subject work best — portraits, silhouettes, architecture. Nudge the contrast slider up if the image looks flat, and try swapping ink and paper with the ⇄ button: inverted duotones often look striking.
Is it really private?
Yes. There is no upload: all processing happens in your browser using canvas and JavaScript. The downloaded PNG is rendered at the full resolution of your original photo, right on your machine.
