How does it work?

Halftone is how printers have faked shades of gray since the 1880s: a grid of ink dots whose size varies with the darkness of the image — big dots where it's dark, tiny dots where it's light. From a distance your eye blends them back into a continuous image. This tool rebuilds your photo dot by dot on a rotated screen grid, exactly like a printing press would.

What does the angle do?

It rotates the dot grid. Classic print screens use 45° because it's the angle the human eye notices least; 0° gives a bold graphic look, and anything in between changes the texture's rhythm. Try it together with different dot sizes.

Any tips?

High-contrast photos with a clear subject work best. If the result looks muddy, raise the contrast slider. For a pop-art poster, try colored ink on a bright paper — pink on cream, navy on yellow — instead of plain black on white.

Is it really private?

Yes. There is no upload: all processing happens in your browser using canvas and JavaScript. Close the tab and nothing remains.
